A walk down the Washington Street Corridor - Columbus, Indiana

historic photos from 1960-70s and now

Historic places give us a sense of place and identity. They connect us to our past and inspire us to create a better future. This project documents the changes that have taken place within the Washington Street corridor over the past 50 years. By retaking photographs of buildings and streetscapes from the 1960s and1970s, the evolution of the city's architectural landscape can be observed. In a city concerned with progress and preservation, great care has been taken to maintain the vibrancy of downtown. In time loss is inevitable and some historic treasures exist only on film.
