Following my exploration of still lifes in "...if Morandi painted my knick-knacks," I became entranced by the captivating world held within seemingly ordinary objects. Gazing upon my collection of stones and antiques, I found myself drawn into mesmerizing depths of color and light. These moments of quiet contemplation revealed the immense beauty and potential for transcendence that resides even in the most mundane.
"Macro Explorations" marks a shift from depicting objects to capturing their essence. It's a celebration of the way cherished possessions can transport us, sparking a potent blend of nostalgia and memory. Through amplified brushstrokes and a focus on materiality, I strive to capture the portals of light held within colored glass and the quiet joy these objects evoke.
The shift to large, human-scale stretched canvases allows me to create immersive experiences. The paint interacts freely across the expansive surfaces, mirroring the way light dances and transforms across cherished objects. This series a testament to the profound beauty and meditative spaces we can discover within the ordinary, waiting to be revealed.
